Renée Gloria Pardo is a seasoned trial attorney with over 25 years of legal experience, bringing compassion, expertise, and an unwavering commitment to her clients. Her extensive background in criminal law and family law advocacy has positioned her as a trusted advocate for clients facing high-stakes and emotionally charged cases.
Renée began her legal journey at the University of Texas at Austin, earning her B.A. in Government with a minor in History in 1990. She continued her studies at South Texas College of Law, where she earned her Juris Doctor in 1993 and tried her first case in 1994. Her dedication to justice led her to serve as an Assistant District Attorney in Tarrant County, Texas, where she prosecuted over 31 jury trials, gaining invaluable courtroom experience.
Renée became an Assistant District Attorney in Suffolk County New York in 1997. She handled grand jury presentations and prosecuted complex criminal cases, including narcotics trafficking and gang-related offenses. Transitioning to private practice in 2000, she spent over a decade defending clients in criminal cases, including assault, domestic violence, narcotics, and white-collar crimes, from inception through trial.
Renée’s career took a pivotal turn in 2010 when she was asked to serve at the Suffolk County Attorney’s Office as Principal Assistant County Attorney. She focused on juvenile delinquency and child abuse and neglect cases, earning the 2017 Juvenile Justice Trial Award for her impactful work. She also became a recognized lecturer on “Raise the Age” legislation and trial advocacy, providing training to attorneys statewide.
In 2019, Renée made history by trying the first red flag gun law case in New York and subsequently handled over one hundred of these extreme risk protection order cases in four different court parts, while training stakeholders in the Suffolk County Police Department, County Attorney’s Office, and other municipalities. Her success with this emerging law led to her appointment as Acting Counsel to the Suffolk County Police Department, where she advised on criminal law reforms before returning to the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office as a Principal Assistant District Attorney to handle major crime cases, child abuse, and domestic violence cases.
Now in private practice, Renée is deeply committed to transparency and communication with her clients. She ensures they are fully informed and empowered to make the best decisions for their cases. Her ability to bring calm and clarity to high-stakes situations has made her a trusted ally to clients and colleagues alike. In addition to her criminal law practice, Renée has successfully handled Title IX cases, achieving favorable outcomes for clients facing allegations of sexual assault, academic misconduct, and drug and alcohol violations in university settings.
Renée also serves as a consultant to family law attorneys on criminal law and gun law policy and provides support to attorneys handling extreme risk protection order matters.
In addition to her legal practice, Renée has served as an executive member of the Suffolk County Criminal Bar Association and is currently a member of the Suffolk County Women’s Bar Association and an elected delegate to the Women’s Bar Association of the State of New York.
