Biography
LaToya James, Esq. is a certified matrimonial, family, and child custody and visitation mediator and former Senior Suffolk County Assistant District Attorney. Her motto is “competent counsel inspires informed decisions.”
While working in the district attorney’s office, LaToya became known as an aggressive yet compassionate prosecutor. This showed her how prosecutors investigate and evaluate cases and what trial strategies they use. LaToya has the knowledge and experience needed to dismantle their theories and secure favorable results for clients in criminal cases.
As an assistant district attorney, LaToya prosecuted thousands of misdemeanor and felony cases from arraignment through trial. She ended her career there in the Major Crime Bureau, handling crimes such as:

- Assaults
- Sex crimes
- Vehicular crimes
She was also the designated prosecutor in the Integrated Domestic Violence part of the Supreme Court and Suffolk County Felony Youth Part.
LaToya has years of experience and is well respected by colleagues, adversaries, and judges as a champion for victims of domestic violence.
